Clair DeLune has hosted the Blues Moon Radio show since 1990. She is a writer, editor and public relations professional who is also a professor of music history and has taught courses in Blues History, History of Rock and Roll; Jump, Swing and Boogie-Woogie; and Women in Popular Music of the 20th Century at the University of South Carolina. Her articles on music, public relations and the media, health and lifestyle issues have appeared in books and magazines.

RIP Willie "Big Eyes" Smith
Note: there will be a tribute to the Muddy Waters' Band in tonight's show in honor of Willie "Big Eyes" Smith who passed away this week of a stroke.
Our hearts go out to his family, friends and many devoted fans. We are awed by his contribution to music and for being in the most influential Chicago Blues Band of all time.
Starting out tonight's show is some new music:

I had the oldies tuned in on a trip this weekend and heard Bobbie Gentry's "Ode to Billie Joe," which - as sappy as I am - still makes me tear up a bit, so we are featuring a Blues song about the famous Tallahatchie River - where the preacher saw a girl who "looks a lot like you and Billie Joe McAllister were throwing something off the Tallahatchie Bridge."
