Playlist for Blues Moon Radio June 28, 2011

The celebratory fireworks have not begun (as of this writing and from my earshot perspective) yet, but we are prepping for two big celebrations in Blues Moon Radio world...

Our loyal mascots, RockyDawg, Blues Defender, and Claudette, Blues Doggess (RIP = miss you baby grrrrrl), were both born on or near the Fourth of July, so we will celebrate this triad of fabulousness on tonight's Blues Moon Radio show.

Our first set has gone to the dogs and we'll start with a nod from our pal, Lucky, because I love German Police/Shepherd Dogs!

And now Rocky has to go lie down, eat a treatie and take a little nap before the Independence Day tribute.

Chris Duarte - Free 4 Me
(levels) Eddie Turner - Cost of Freedom
Robert Pete Williams - Free Again
Mildred Anderson - I'm Free
The Titans - Free and Easy

Drink Small - I'm Gonna Run On

Ken Cook - Don't Be Running Wild (Problem Child)
Hound Dog Taylor - Wild About You, Baby
Papa Lightfoot - Wild Fire

Steve Freund - Wild Woman
Willie "61" Blackwell - She's Young and Wild
Saffire - The Uppity Blues Women * - Wild Women Don't Have the Blues

Lonnie Brooks - Accident

We didn't have time for these cuts... will play them (and the Abner Jay request) next week - promise!
Ruth Brown - Wild Wild Young Men

Tarheel Slim - Wildcat Tamer
Joe Williams/Sonny Boy Williamson - Wild Cow Moan
Bessie Smith - I'm Wild About that Thing

* These sites are not up-to-date, but CDs are still available for sale from these amazing female artists. Robin Rogers, who died last year, just after learning of her nomination for a Blues Foundation award, indeed received it.
Saffire is no longer actively touring, but they have left a legacy of powerhouse, yet whimsical, Blues from a mature female perspective.  Enjoy!

Thanks for tuning in to the Blues Moon with Clair DeLune radio show... Rocky and I thank you!
