Blues Moon Radio Show Playlist January 25, 2011 - Drink Small

Happy birthday to late January Bluesmen and women - with an especially hearty Happy Birthday to South Carolina's own Blues Doctor, Drink Small...

You can see him perform at his Birthday Bash in Bishopville Friday night - and he'll make an appearance at Mac's on Main in Columbia Saturday night...

We will welcome him to the second hour of Blues Moon Radio - live in studio!

Starting us out tonight will be some artists with late January birthdays...

Lead Belly - Gallis Pole b/w You Can't Mistreat Me
Snooks Eaglin - Country Boy Down in New Orleans
Eva Taylor - Organ Grinder
Doug Quattlebaum - If You've Ever Been Mistreated
Big Mojo Ele(a)m - Special Kind of Love
Bob Corritore with TomCat Courtney - Sundown San Diego
Guitar Shorty - Old School
Etta James - I'll Take Care of You b/w Only Women Bleed
Sleepy John Estes - Down South Blues
Little Mack Simmons - Blues for Atomic-H

Our live interview with Drink Small [www.myspace.com/drinksmallblues] and Moses from Mystic Vibrations was a blast! Drink was in his element with his "Drinkisms" as he touted his new 5 song CD, called "Drinkisms," which features the Mystic Vibrations band members. The merging of Blues and Reggae took a natural flow on that CD - especially the cut "Jamaican Blues."

We wish Drink and the band great success with the CD and tour... there is also a Music Maker Foundation CD [http://www.musicmaker.org/news_post/drink-small-the-real-blues-doctor/ ] featuring Drink that fans will want to have in their collections. Drink Small was given an honorary Ph.D. in October of 2010, so he really is a Blues Doctor now... regardless, he is a one-of-a-kind treasure - one whom we at Blues Moon Radio are so glad to call a friend and welcome on the air. "Still Great at 78! - Cannot wait - because at 79 he's going to be mighty fine!" if I might toss out one of my own "Drinkisms!"

Thanks again and VERY happy birthday ... please check out one of his birthday celebrations: Bishopville Opera House Friday night, Mac's on Main (Columbia SC) Saturday night and Feb 5, 2011 he will be at the 145 Club in Winnsboro S.C. Come out and support a living legend!

We didn't have time to complete our "end of January" birthdays ... so tune in next week when you will hear:
Buddy Moss - Jealous Hearted Man
Elmore James - Sho' Nuff I Do
Beale Streeters with Bobby Blue Bland - Lovin' Blues
Hot Lips Page - My Gal is Gone
Paul Gayten - The Music Goes 'Round and 'Round
Eddie Taylor - Bad Boy
Ruth Brown - Wild Wild Young Men
Roosevelt Sykes - Music is my Business
Charlie Musselwhite - Trouble No More

and much, much more!

Thanks for listening... hope you all enjoyed it half as much as I did bringing it to you!
